Post

Hello People,Just the other day my Husband and I replaced the headlights in my 2002 Infinity Qx4,two days later the check engine light came on,as you know we had to remove the air intake thingy to get to the drivers side bulb and the battery to get to the passenger side one,so anyway we took it to AZ and put it on their scanner it gave a code of P1130 which I have read all post on this in the forums and I cant seem to find exactly what the Swivel control valve itself looks like
,I have searched online for the part By that name and nothing comes up,I am by no means a mechanic nor is my husband but I think we could do this job,we just need to find the part and or get the part number and dont want to take it to the dealer to be ripped off when we can probably do it ourselves for much less cash, which we dont have,I did get these part numbers 14956-1P101 & 1P101A off the forums but dont now if they are for my specific vehicle,What website may carry the part i need if anyone can help with this that would be great we have checked all hoses and none seem to be dislodged and the air filter was put back correctly, its kinda dirty but read changing that wont help the problem, should I change that when I change the SCV also? Should I try just cleaning the hoses first ,then changing out the SCV,I really need some direction here,if any body can Help.
Thank You
Becca :

Welcome to NICO.

Your first task should be to check that the vacuum hose for the swirl control valve is undamaged and free of blockage. The SCV is located here underneath the plastic engine cover (which is secured by 2 10mm nuts and one 10mm bolt).

The OEM part numbers, should you require replacement, are 14956-1P110 or 14956-1P10A (they are interchangeable). Courtesy Parts will likely be the cheapest provider for these parts; about $96 before shipping. Pathfinders & QX4s are mechanically identical, so there's no need to order from an Infiniti dealer.

OK I took the plastic cover off and checked all hoses, the hose that runs from SCV to the air filter intake box(I guess)is a little dry rotted on the end that goes to the scv unit,I need to replace this but my question is, is this special tubing or just regular rubber,I got these numbers off the tubing that needs to be replaced 3- then some weird symbol-2204 <eoc>I am going to try to find it on the internet or the ap store myself just asking you because you more than likely already know the answer. Thanks

As far as I know it's just generic vacuum hose.

I've never replaced the swirl control valve, so I don't have any details about its replacement procedure, sorry. Hopefully someone else who has will chime in with information.

You're not bothering anybody, we're here to help! :)

Well we changed out the whole vacuum assembly and it was with 2 solenoids and the the SES light is still on after a few drive cycles highway and city, should I try cleaning the MAF sensor or changing the scv check switch or both, and if I should change the scv switch do you know a part number,
is cleaning the maf going to cause any issues if done properly.
Thanks
Learning as I go............

There is a diagnostic procedure on page EC-495 of the factory service manual, try following it.

So will the part number 14956-1P110 fix the P1130 code? I cleaned out the hoses but the code came back so I was just going to order and replace the part. Is it a 100% fix with the part or close?

By the way I have a 2002 Pathfinder 2WD SE

I cant give you a definite on that, that's the part I was gonna change out before I broke the nipple and when I got the whole vac assembly it was on it already, so maybe,
you would have to get a more experienced mechanic type person to answer that. Sorry
thanks

The part number should be the same for your 2002 Pathfinder, but just in case it's not, please provide your VIN and I can look up the part number again. Welcome to NICO!

The part is $95.87 before shipping at Courtesy Parts. Before you order, check the power circuit for the solenoid valve - see EC-499 of the factory service manual (step 3). If that's good, the most likely cause is the valve itself, so go ahead and replace it.

I was looking at the manual and there are a bunch of different Diagnostic Procedures for the P1130 code. Are you saying that the procedure on page 499 is the only one I should wory about?
