Hey guys, I've been having idling and overheating problems for a couple of months now and it would be great if I can have your advises on how to fix these problems. As of right now, my car idles at 1500 rpm and it wastes gas like crazy. The idling noise from the engine bay is a little loud than usual and as I drive it around more, it starts overheating. Can you guys help me figure out where the idling problem is coming from and can irregular idling affect overheating? Thanks.

my only thoughts are that you can bring down your idol speed by ajusting it on your throtle body. also ive seen cars overheat due to a malfuntioning thermostat in the coolant lines. ten dollar fix if it is. i don't think a high idol would do overheating harm.

Like what infinity_218 said, check the thermostat and make sure its working properly. Also check all of your heater hoses, my 240 blew 1 of them and it caused overheating like crazy. Check for leaks and shiz like that as well.

did the high idle happen out of nowhere? i know an advanced distributor can cause the idle to raise some.

if you havent messed with the idler screw on the throttle body, dont mess with it now. that'll only hide whatever problem that's really causing the high idle.

as for the overheating, check both radiator hoses for temp when its running, and note if theres high pressure in them. you might just need to burp the air out of your system that mightve snuck in at some point.
