Hey whats up guys, im out in my garage very close to turning over my rebuilt engine. Just have to put the drive shaft on, my only problem is I don't know where this half moon plate goes and ive been searching for a while now. Hopefully you guys can hit me back with a quick answer and here is a picture of it

That is something I am definitely not familiar with... The little rubber seal really throws me off.

I never saw a piece like that on my car when we pulled it apart. At first glance it looks like it could be something to do with an autotrans... IIRC your car was standard though?

Is there any chance that piece you are holding doesn't even belong to the Z?

I think its a plate that goes in between the transmission and block but im not sure? I have the big plate that goes between the motor and trans, but does this one go in as well? I can take another picture if you want.

I just found this http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/f ... Pic-9.html

I guess this half moon piece goes inbetween the block and big plate?

Thanks for quick response man

No prob, I do have this piece... Just not installed (I have the main dust cover installed though) I will install this when I put everything back together though. We pulled the trans ect so that we could redo the oil pan seal.

Yeah that's what it is, it goes behind the main dust cover on the lower side between the engine and the dust shield. Not exactly sure what it does though... lol

Thanks for the replies guys! I got it in now and will be turning over the car tomorrow. Ended up needing a battery so I'm going to pick up one of those optima ones, any of you guys running that kind of battery?

Ill post some pics and a video in my build thread once I get it going, fingers crossed!

I've heard the optima ones are good and they're sealed? so good for trunk relocation.. but I wouldn't go off that myself. I'd do my own research on that. That's just what "they" have said... the mysterious "they"...
