Hey guys, I just pulled apart the engine to the car I just bought. It supposedly had a built engine. The seller told me that they are forged Eagle rods and forged dish pistons. I have no doubt that the pistons are after market because I could eat a bowl of soup out of them. But I am questioning these rods, I've had eagle rods in my past vehicles (Trans am, Corvette Z06, Cobra) but these look far from anything Eagle would produce. In fact they don't even look forged, or after market to say the least!

In less than 4 hours of drive time when purchasing the car it developed rod knock, and got progressively worse. It turns out it was a spun rod bearing. The seller denied it of course and said it was just valve tap. I pulled the motor because I needed to know for sure what internals this engine was running.

Here are some pictures. Sorry for the bad cell phone pictures.

I really need to find out what type of rods these are ASAP!

Those are the stock nissan rods, you can see the nissan emblem engraved on the rod, i am using eagle rods in my kat and those are not, and also eagle rods come with arp studs and star nuts and those are standard nuts on yours in the pic.

Stock rods, what a d!ck that seller is.

I'm glad you took the time to take apart and check +1 for you, at least now you can save some cash on totally blowing the engine ..

+1 for a yes, those are stock Nissan rods. They are forged, actually... they've just got no meat on 'em.

I would ask for some money back from the guy. You didnt get what you paid for. Take what you can get, and go purchase some real rods.

I've already replaced it with an AMS long block. The problem is, I've already confronted him about it and no he refuses to return my phone calls and emails. I think it's time for legal action.
