Need help identifying a part

I need help identifying a part on my 08 Altima Coupe 3.5SE, my local dealer wants to charge me $100 to even look at the car. This part starts making a loud whining noise after the car has been running for 15 minutes or so.

Are you over 36k miles? If not then it's warranty work and you shouldn't be charged.

my dealer says its like $100 to look at the car and if its something that malfunctioned, you dont have to pay $100. but if they look at it and find theirs nothing wrong then its $100 or if there is something wrong but you caused it, then $100 plus fixing it. they start charging that after 12k miles at my dealership....

My car is @ 47,000 so over the 36k bumper to bumper.. The dealer where I bought the car is in North Carolina and I bought 3 Nissans from them and they always treated me well. Would give me loaner cars etc when doing work on my car, I am in Cincinnati now and the local dealer always makes my trips to the service center a pain.

If your referring to the steel pipe, thats probably the water inlet hose

I am referring to the bolted on can shape part with the black top.. I have taken the top off and there is a black rubber soft diaphragm that covers the top of it.

Welcome, it looks like you are new here. I cant help you right off the top of my head but you may want to look at this and save the link. It is the full repair manual for our coupes, im sure it will be a big help if you have to do any of your own work.

That thing is called the "RH Engine Mounting Insulator." Not sure why/how it would whine, but that's what it is.



It's part #3 in that illustration, shown attached to RH engine mount support.

It can also be found in the em.pdf FSM on page 198.

That's the part and from reading http://www.nissanclub.com/foru....html it looks like the motor mounts are electronic so they can make noise. Just need to find out if this would be covered under powertrain warranty or not.

Weird. Sounds cool. That part is like $100-$150, so you might end up getting to pay double if it's not under warranty.
