I will be selling be beloved 98 Maxima (168k) after the Christmas season. I really like the 02 infiniti Q45. I felt that this would be the best place to gather information from....What are some of the things I should look out for when buying this car? Is one model better than another in terms of packages? What are some of the nuianses that I should be aware of? What gremlins should I be aware of before I purchase this car? Thanks for all the feed back.

Welcome to NICO!!

I will get you some threads to read tomorrow. Id recommend looking at some of the threads already posted in this forum about the F50 Q... The short story is this (may help you in searching posts)

1. The F50 (02+ Q) is basically bulletproof. no known major failures.2. The 2002s had a few TSBs and things that need to be done to get peak performance... If you can find an 02 with these done, itd be ideal (itd show up on the service records).3. The 03+ had all this stuff already fixed, and there were more options available...

My recommendation would be to find an 03 since 02/03s are very similar in price, but the 03 is a better buy... However, if I were to find a SMOKING deal on an 02, i probably wouldnt pass it up. The differences arent monumental, but enough to pay a tiny bit extra for an 03 for slightly less hassle.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'll start looking for '03's as well. I have been lurking and I saw the post about the TSB that effected the acceleration to the vehicle by adjusting the accelrator and/or reprogramming the computer to have more aggressive shifts for the '02's. If I'm wrong, let me know. Better yet, i'll just search it. Thanks again for the info.

Welcome to nico club. Our moderators are the best in the industry!I drive an 02 F50 with TCM/ECU and pedal upgrade. What a big difference, feels like a new car. I did change my shocks/struts at 65K miles.Just properly maintain your car and the results are rewarding. These are very good cars and this is my third nissan/infiniti car.

Good luck.
