you should hook it up to your trash. it ain't gonna do a thing except give you a light show. It's the white wire that's the signal wire. The purple taps the o2 wire at the ecu for easiest (and least amount of electrical interference).

180fan is correct UNLESS you buy and hook up a second o2 sensor.Hooked mine at ecu and under hood and the thing just bounced up and down with its power supply instead of with the o2 signal. But now it is fairly accurate for a narrow band. When fuel cut come on while deccel. it drops off to fully lean, tap gas and it instantly rises.

so i should put another o2 sensor in and run the a/f gauge off of it?

narrow band air fuel are useless dancing lights. sell it to a ricer and buy a wide band.

Yes, I read you gave up.. but, did you actually check to make sure the wires were properly connected? Red/white/black are colors for replacement sensor; factory is black/clear/brown. The stock KA has a brown wire at the battery plug that gets wired to normal brown O2 wire to "heat" the sensor. So, a few minutes after cranking, you should get an approximate signal. Without the power to the sensor, or if you extended the sensor wires without doing a good job with the shielded cable, you get nothing out but noise. Purple connects to ECU, pin #29, which is the clear wire (comes from white wire on aftermarket sensor). The most common problems occur when the brown/heating wire doesn't get connected or when the O2 sensor wire is extended... just remember that you DO NOT have to extend any of the wires for an RB swap - by not cutting and extending wires, you eliminate the induced noise/EMF associated with an improperly prepared and connected shielded cable.
