I'm about to complete an auto to 5sp conversion on an 89 240 hatch. I have a donor car, and was woundering if the auto ecu could be swaped for a 5spd ecu? Or if that would'nt prevent me from having to rewire things what wires do I have to bypass osr splice. Pics would be nice.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I just have this as my home page.

Keep the auto ecu, works fine. I know people who install the auto ecu into their stock equiped 5 speed to get around some of the stock ecu limiters.

Dunno for sure about having to rewire, I'd imagine you could get away without it. But someone else will have to chime in.

la la lala la....

ok for real tho.. the auto ecu works fine for the 5spd swap. I never reinstalled any of the transmission sensors, except for the speed sensor the big one.

To get your car to start, you will have to wire it up right. I am lazy, so i took the gear selector swith, moved the level to neutral, which has a little hole on it, and inserted a dowl pin. Car will start and run fine, just no reverse lights. This pin did move into reverse on me, so i just relocated it into the engine compartment and secured it by the battery...

idk if this will help, but i felt like chiming in....

Why not choose a title that indicates what your post is about.

Perhaps "Auto/Manual ECU swap?" That way others can find this info when they search - which is what you really should have done because there about 1000 posts on this.

Really though, isn't it kind of stupid to create a post entitled "need help" on a tech forum? Think about it...

Wow, what a worthless time wasting post! You have done soooo well!

As far as the 5spd swap, Ive always just changed to a 5spd ECU. As far as wiring on the transmission, just use the same speed sensor. Half of it will unplug and come out of the transmission, you need to be careful getting the other part out without breaking it. Last time I checked, the prices for them from the dealer were out of this world.

Dont forget the driveline!

You couldn't be more wrong Rick. If people would use informative titles, others would be able to find the information in the post. Otherwise, it just creates clutter. Perhaps that's why he couldn't find a topic that's been covered over and over and over.

If you are so worried about it why dont you get in contact with a mod and see if they will change the title of the thread?... Instead of posting something useless.

I'd like to see them immeadiatly delete all such posts but I don't think they would want to invest the time.

I'm sorry you don't see my logic - perhaps if you ever have to do any technical research you'll understand. Anyway, speaking of time...

Technical research? I usually dont find myself in a position to have to do research on something.....mainly because I have probably done it at least a few times.

There was a big writeup on 5pd swaps on ka-t.org, not sure if it is still around...I dont think I ever stickied it.

There is also this: http://www.240sx.org/links/ins...p.htm

The reason I didn't write the question in the topic is so I wouldn't have to re type it. Also I was asking a kinda broad question to find all options, to see which solution would best work for me. Also the other reason is to make you angry, did it work yet.

LOL - it always does. Yet, strangely I still read these posts on occasion.

Seriously though, you gotta admit it's sound reasoning.

Deleting threads for any other reason than them being vulgar or unrelated to 240sx's whatsoever is the dumbest thing ever...

Reasoning: Have you ever thrown away that one bolt that you thought you would never need, and the next day you need it? Save all information because chances are, someone will need it.

Exactely my point - when you need it you'll never be able to find it!

I bet youre like me. I have a set of shelves in my shop with all kinds of used stuff, stuff that got replaced, and stock parts, including a bucket full of bolts and nuts and washers etc...comes in handy, especially when your fixing other cars!
