Need Help- Have code 1446 EVAP

I got a code on my pathfinder for p1146. The code says its Vent control valve but I read that it might be broken evap canister but want to make sure. I also have code few months ago for 1456- small evap leak which i thought was loose gas cap since i forgot to tighten it.

Any one know where the canister is located and how to replace or fix this problem.

The canister is (should be) in the back by the spare tire on the driver's side. It's about the size of a paper back book.

I just had to replace my air intake elbow, so if tightening your gas cap didn't work, I would definitely check into that. Also though, the small evap leak could be the O-ring for the vent control valve.
