Hi guys,
I've just imported an '89 HG50 Q45 from Japan and I'm having trouble getting it started. It WAS starting ok before, when it arrived it ran for about 10 minutes (idling) then ran out of petrol. I put about 5L in and it started again, and I drove it about a km up and down the road. 3 days later I moved the car in my driveway, worked on it (just cleaning the interior and putting interior trim into the trunk) and then tried to start it about 2 hours later, it would crank but never fire. I put another 5L of petrol in but still no luck, I pulled off one of the fuel lines and even cranking it there's nothing coming out, so there's a fuel pump issue I believe.
And that's about as far as I've managed to get. I've checked all engine bay fuses and one was blown, a 30amp fuse (the green one in this picture), my fusebox is not labelled so I have no idea what it is, the fuel pump still doesn't work, the only thing which didn't work previously was the airbag suspension (NOT Active suspension) so that may be what this was for?
Does anyone know what this fuse is, and are there any others which could be fuel pump related? The interior fuse box is labelled in Japanese so I have no idea if there are any I should check in there, I'm having this translated now.... are any of those possible culprits?
So, can anyone offer any advice on what to try? It has occured to me that the pump might have overheated when it ran out of fuel, but I have started the car several times and driven it since, so I'm not sure. If the pump is dead are there any other Nissan pumps which are easily interchangeable? I don't really relish the idea of trying to find a Q45 pump in Australia when I'm not even sure if it will solve the problem.
