Need help - Fog lights come on when car turned off

06 G35 coupe, 40k miles. Last night when I turned off the car, the head lights went off but the fog lights came on and stayed on. If I started the car, the fogs would turn off but as soon as I turned off the engine, the fogs came back on. The only way I could get the fogs off with the engine off was to disconnect the battery. If I restarted the engine then turned it off, the fog lights would come back on and stay on.

Could not figure it out last night so I disconnected the battery to get the fogs off, then I reconnected the battery without restarting the engine. The fogs stayed off. This morning I checked the car and the battery is dead.

Owned this car for a year with no problems til now.

Anyone got an idea?

At 40k miles you should still be under the factory warranty. I'd simply take it to a Infiniti dealership and let them fix the problem (unless you have made changes to the factory lighting of course).

Definitely something very weird. Never heard this before on any car, with the lights and all. Sounds like some electrical system is drawing significant power since your battery ended up dead. There's gotta be a short or something going on with the headlamps system. I have an issue with another vehicle in which my electrician spent two whole days and nights trying to figure it out (he's my neighbor) but could never find it except for which fuse it was on, but it takes 3-7 days for it completely drain the battery without running the car.

I jump started the car a little while ago but it is still doing the same thing. Fog lights and rear lights came on as soon as I turned the car off. Never heard of this before. Hope the dealership can figure it out.

Sounds like a problem with either the headlight switch or the ignition switch. The ignition switch controls a lot more then just starting the car. good luck and let us know what you find.
