so im tired of combing the internet for the wheels i want to get before i lift my pathy. now according to 4x4parts i shud have a wheel with 3.75 offset, which is only an inch less than my factory rim. id personally like a wheel with like a 3 inch offset, make the tires stick out a lil more. anyway i cant seem to find a site that offers wheels for a decent price. al i want is an all black steel wheel, nothing fancy, maybe similar to a cragar design, just something to get the job done. any help is appreciated, thanks!

just to clear things up...the 3.75 is not offset, but backspacing. Offset is taken +/- from the centerline of the wheel. Backspacing is taken from the mounting surface to the inside edge (plane) of the wheel.

What is your idea of affordable? $50ea, $125ea, $200ea? Different price points for different budgets.

You need to watch your backspacing and wheel width. The less backspacing you go with, you will need to cut some wheel width to avoid too much stress on the hubs/joints. I would compare it to the lowrider wheel scenario (Daytons).

Find what whee width you want 6.5", 7", 8", 8.5", then try to find a suitable backspacing to give you the desired "poke". Tire width plays a part too.

If your factory wheel is 7" wide (16" dia) with a back spacing of 4.75", you could in theory go with a 7" wide wheel with 4" of backspacing and gain 3/4" of track (poke) on each side for 1.5" gain of overall track width. You didn't gain any wheel width, but you still gained track width.

An 8" wide wheel with 4.25" backspacing nets you 1.5" greater track (poke) on each side and an overal gain of 3" of vehicle track width. The possibilites are endless.

It is going to involve "funny" math on your part to find the combo that works for you. Unfortunately, most companies don't list the backspacing number of their wheel. you have to figure it out by using the wheel width in mm, dividing by half, adding or subtracting the offset, then converting that number back to inches or leave it in mm...100mm = 4".

I will say, it is hard to find "affordable" basic off-raod wheels for the R51. It seems that more people are into large, chrome wheels and not small, rugged, basic ones.

The hardest part I finding the bolt-pattern on the wheels you want. The other two measurements may have to be sacrificed some. Only alternative is to find someone to make you some custom steel wheels. Best of luck.

i appoligise i meant backspace not offset, first thank you for the info, very good to know. second, i wouldnt mind spending 100$ per wheel, like i said im looking for just a black steel wheel with a simple design, doesnt have to be pretty just get the job done.

im aware that the factory wheel, well mine is 16x7, with 4.75" of backspace. i wanted, and according to the 4x4parts site need a wheel with 3.75" of backspace, but i'd go a bit more, after reading yoyr info maybe like 3.5", and i wasnt sure if i shiuld get a rim that was 7 or 8 inches wide, but now i think ill stick with a 16x7.

yea it is a PITA to find the wheels i want. there are people who have done the lift and have the wheels, i just need to find them, so as of now im looking for a black steel wheel, 16x7, 3.57"/3.5" backspacing, and 6x5.5 bolt pattern.

ive found wheel with almost all the right sepcs, but they either have only a 4" backspace, or a 2.5" backspace. anyone who has wheels that work well with the 2" lift from 4x4parts plz share some info as to where to get wheels i need, thanks.

P.S. thanks again K03sport.
