This has been driving me crazy and I need help finding this. There's a game I remember playing when I was a kid during the mid to late 90's. I played it on PC but I'm pretty sure it was on Playstation 1 as well. It kinda felt like Doom, except it was a space shooter. You piloted one first-person blocky spacecraft and shot at other blocky spacecraft and maneuvered through large 3D tunnels. I remember a lot of the enemy spacecraft being large and fairly slow moving. I'm pretty sure I remember having to find key cards to open certain doors like in Doom. Each of these doors had banks of lights around the perimeter of the door the same color as the key you needed.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? I've been trying to remember like crazy what it is but I just can't!

I remember playing Descent... at the time, those graphics were incredible. The description from Loki sounds just like it.

Descent was the bomb. I LOVED that game. Good times. It was in a CD I bought when I lived in Singapore, called "Top 50 Flight Games." So many good games in there.

Holy shnikes, you ROCK MoD! That is it :) My parents used to drop me off at a local community center during summer break and I would play/watch people play that game for hours. I don't know why I thought of the game, and I'm shocked someone managed to find it! I think I may *obtain* a copy and play it again.

You can buy it at the link I posted for $5. It runs in DosBox, which is a Dos emulator that runs in Windows, but it doesn't require any fiddling...just click the shortcut and it takes care of everything. And if you happen to have a computer around that runs Win98 or earlier you can even run it directly from windows, without DosBox.
