Hey guys first post here.

Been looking for awhile for a new car to commute in but I didn't want to buy something that didn't have a little style/performance/luxury

So I am settled on a G35 SEDAN -sport used 2007+

Im in northern AZ and I am having a heck of a time finding one ANYWHERE in AZ.

I even broadened my search to dealers even though I hate going through a dealer for a used car.

I just dropped 50K on a brand new pickupI really dont want to drop 40+ for another car. I woudl like to stay under 30.

Any tips where to look (I already am using Craigslist and Autotrader)

Also is the G35 sedan- sport package worth it? There seems to be a lot of the G35 journey sedans and evena few more X's out there.

Welcome to NICO.

I know a dealer out here in SoCal that might be able to help you. He goes to auctions and bids on the car you want.

email me if you'd like his info.

yeah I did but no dice.

Personally it takes me awhile to set my mind on something; especially a purchase of this magnitude, due to research and general pondering but once I make my mind up I move on it.

Unfortunately thanks to this I am not very patient.

I recommend Infiniti of Scottsdale!!!

Kevin Mason sold me my used 2007 G35 sedan

The Sport isn't worth it imo.

I hate buying from dealers but I might be stuck doing so.

what do you think of that price?

First of all I would like you to say. Welcome to Nico.

Ok I heard it was snowing for almost 15 minutes in AZ couple of months ago. So from this standing point May I suggest to look for an X?

J/k

I wish I could be more help but I am just toooooo far up North.

About the sport package. It is really up to you. I found the journey/x seat more comfy. But as I said it is just me.

Good luck with the car hunting.

Hey Tate, Welcome to Nicoclub!

Wow, you're way out there in Apache territory... I've never been to your neck of the woods, but I know some people that hunt in Greer quite a bit... supposed to be beautiful territory out there...

I'd say that you may want to come to the valley to find a good deal on a G35... I was just at Pinnacle infiniti the other day and they're having really good deals on the 2007 Sedans that didn't sell and making room for the 2008's. I'd have to agree with Gwoods that if you're going to buy from a dealer, then go to Infiniti of Scottsdale... they have INCREDIBLE service and their customer appreciation promotions are the best I've seen. Since you're about half way, you may want to check out Albuquerque as well... you may find a good deal over there...

I personally like the sport, but it wasn't a must with me. The new XS is out so you might want to consider that as well. Living where you live, the X may not be a bad idea... depending on how much you spend climbing snowy mountains, the X would be perfect. I'm sure you'll find a good deal, so Good luck and keep us posted...

BTW: Zozo... Arizona has many different climates... I'm just a few hours away from Tate and this is what my sunset looks like

Just a few hours North east and it looks like this

The X may not be such a bad Idea for him if he lives in the latter climate...

Yeah. I was born and raised in Tucson. Believe me I have been searching there and in "they valley" aka Phoenix. (P.S. I hate when people call it "the valley" its not really a valley at all).

I moved up here for a job well into the 6 figures range versus in the upper 5 figures range was enough to get me up here.

I considered the X but I just really dont need it. Sure it snowed a total of about 8 feet over the winter up here (Most we got in a 24 hr period was like 2'), but really I did fine in a 2wd dually truck Im sure ill do fine in a 2wd RWD sedan. UP in a little higher elevations (Springerville is right at 7,000 feet) they got as much as 14' in places over the winter, and there are still some pretty deep patches.

That being said I like it ok up here just wish there were more ammenities and it wasnt so cold.

Last week Wednesday and Thursday had overnight lows of 17 and 16 degrees FARENHIEGHT!This in may.... in AZ.

As for the car that 4 hour drive to PHX or Tucson from here is probably one of the single best drives I have ever seen for a sports car. The salt river canyon is incredible for a great cornering car. As is the queen creek canyon between Globe and Superior. I travel this 250 miles about twice a month and my 2007 3500 dodge Quad Cab Dually 6.7 L Cummins only gets about 17 mpg with $4/gal diesel this trip is getting expensive.

Thus I wanted to get a car I could commute with to my place of work up here and travel on the weekends in comfort and style getting better mileage while also being fun to drive. (I had a 99 SS camaro 6 spd and the itch for performance hasn't left since).

I want to stay instate for the most part due to hassle.

I also really want to go pre-owned preferably private party (I hate taxes), but I am having trouble finding a car with most of the things I want.

I am just trying to justify spending a little more money and a lot more of my time and patience finding a used sport if its not really worth it. i.e. Is the handeling between a journey and sport worth the price difference?

How about options which are "must haves" which aren't?

The brand new '08 I found has the following options and if you could please comment.

Hopefully your "itch" won't put your fuel economy in the same range as the truck's.

I don't think you'll be saving much (in taxes) by buying from a private party. Maybe a few hundred, but unless they bought it outright and are ok with taking a loss, I think the money owed to the bank still gets reported some how. Not sure on that one.

As for the handling difference...I would just go test drive each back to back to back. Had I never driven a 6mt coupe, I would have probably ventured over to a WRX or EVO instead.

Welcome aboard...

A little off-topic, but Phoenix is indeed in a "valley" - Greater Phoenix is like a 'bowl' or Valley surrounded by higher mountains.

As for your search, I can vouch for the crew at Scottsdale, I have always dealt with Mal Kenney (salesman there since prehistoric times).

Best of luck!

Well for one even if the fuel economy averages the same as my truck's....Even high grade gas is substantially heaper then diesel (4.20/gal here now). So Im saving....then there is maintenance....$100 oil changes $50 dollar fuel filters every 10K miles add up.

As for you point on taxes there are no taxes on private party sales in az. 8% tax on 30K is almost $2500...thats not cheap.

If you itemize you can deduct that state sales tax from your federal taxes. If you have a mortgage you should be itemizing.

Mal Kenny is the new car salesman Kevin Mason is the used car salesman. I bought my 07 G July of 07 with 14k miles on it from Kevin for 28k.

I'd send Scottsdale Infiniti an email and tell them what your looking for they can find it for you.

Greer is awesome, we go to X diamond for a weekend every year.

+1 on having a Dodge Ram!

That's pretty nice. In Cali, we have a transfer/use tax or sales tax. Both of which are 7.5-8%
