Okay I purchased this 240sx about a week ago and the guy told me he put another motor into the car. Now that I have done a little research I think the motor is an 96-98 motor here's a pics This is a pic of my intake manifold. I think that's the map/baro sensor but as you can see it's not plugged into anything. Also that connector doesn't have a home either.

Okay I found this pic on line. This is what the back of my motor looks like as well. Just yesterday I looked under the hood of another 95 240sx and he doesn't have any of that crap behind the motor. also could any of you tell me were the egrc solenoid valve is located.

I have 4 codesp0115 = coolant temp sensor - fail safe operation FSM EC-111p1401 = EGR temp sensor FSM EC-255p0125 = coolant temp sensor FSM EC-121p1400 = EGRC solenoid valve FSM EC-251Could I have these codes because the motor came out of a 96-97. I know i read some where that you have to change the coolant temp sensor if you put a obd2 motor into a obd1 car.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found the number on the block. How can I look it up to see what year it came out of A212561.

Does anybody have a vacuum diagram were you can acctually tell were the hoses are going. I can't make out where the hoses are going in the online fsm.

I've just been through my 92's egr system but there might be some differences so I don't want to give you any misinformation. However, the solenoids are on the back of the engine and have 3 tubes/hoses attached to them. I think the EGR solenoid might be the one on the right (looking at your photo with the red-painted valve cover) but don't quote me on that. (That's where it is on my 92.)

You should be able to find the vacuum diagram on a sticker on the underside of your hood or in the FSM. If you don't have the FSM do a search with your year, model and "FSM".

Later KA24de do not have secondary butterflies (brown plug behind the engine)Also, one od the easiest way to recognize a stock KA period is by looking at the valve cover. 91~94 have a one more bolt than newer ones. Also, newer ones have MAP/Baro sensors for OBDII compliance but the ECU does not relies on this sensors for engine managment (AKA emission stuff)

Thanks for the help. Another question if I block off the egr stuff and and put a resistor in the egr temp sensor that should take care of my to egr codes right.

I'm not positive but I can see a wire running into a sensor that is between intake runners 2 and 3 . I'm also throwing a p1401 code which is the EGR temp sensor

okay picked up the resistors and I have a question. I bought 2 packs of 5 so do i just twist 5 or 6 together or just use 1.

The pack says 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistor 5% is that right, from what I have been reading everyone else says 100k and radioshack didn't have those.

Why would the thermistor inside sensor FAIL? Never seen one do this.

The code usually comes from the egr ar not flowing and thus the sensor doesn't see the warmer egr air....................fix the problem don't jeep the sensor.

I know sooner or later I will be turbo charging the car so I just wanted to go ahead and take off all of the egr related stuff. I went to radio shack to get a 100k ohm 1/4 watt resistor that you use to put into the female connector for the egr temp sensor to fool the ecu into thinking the sensor was getting correct temp.

Well they didn't have the 100k ohm 1/4 watt resistor but they did have 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistors so I was wondering could I use those instead.
