Hey guys I have a 1996 240sx with a bit over 160k miles on it. I have plenty of problems with the car, but still love it. Anyway, I have had this noise for quite sometime but never really cared for it, and now I am finally wanting to do something about it, but I need help.

The car makes it hard to turn (unless its on ice or something), and therefore, I believe the power steering pump might have gone out. I have power steering fluid in the reservoir. I notice when I turn the car on and see the power steering fluid color change from a dark color, to a light creamy color. Is that normal?

If you cannot hear the video too well, it is a grinding type noise. I haven't changed that timing chain or removed the guides (common problem in 240's i believe) so I don't know if its coming from the engine or the power steering pump.

Oh yea, my car had been leaking radiator fluid so I was checking under the car and checking the hose on the passenger side where I thought I might have been leaking. So, I was kind of doing two things at once lol.

Anyway, if you guys need me to do a better job of the video or something let me know, I really would like some input. Thanks guys!

power steering pump dude..and or power steering lines..you probly blew a line and ran it without knowing frying the pump...you allso need to do a better job checking your fluids..as you stated the powersteering one is dark and nasty..it should be red and clear..dark color means it is burnt or bad fluid...id grab your high pressure line off of it and take it down to a hose shop and have em make a new one..heck have em make em all..its cheeper that way then buying oem..then junk yard dive for a new PS pump..and while your down..remove the upper timing chain bracket..just remove the valve cover and pop that thing off..2 bolts and your done...good luck..and next time sire..check your fluids weekly..if not dayly before a start up...let us know how ya fair.
