if i buy this motor what is needed to convert it to a 5 speed?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...photo

besides the obvious manual transmission and clutch/flywheel.

i was just wondering if i would need a 5 speed ecu or wiring harness?

p.s. my car is already 5 speed

just transmission, clutch assembly, fly wheel, and the bolts are different that Bolt the fly wheel to the crank. you're also going to have the thrilling experience of having to remove a metal ring in the end of the crankshaft it supports the front of the torque converter they can be a pain to remove, then you can just install a new bushing. Also the automatic transmission does have the timing advanced think 5° so more than the manual transmission to make sure you set the time and for an automatic ECU I think it's number is 63. if so I believe it's 20° check the manual to make sure sure

yep and to remove the metal ring just go to autozone, they have a slide hammer that you can rent that has the attachment and it comes right out. took me about 2 minutes once i got the slide hammer. also dont forget to put a 5 speed pilot bushing back in where u pulled the metal ring from.

If you're worried about the financial investment in doing an SR do not do it.

The SR is a great motor no doubt, but if you end up constantly worried about noise it makes, if you are properly maintaining it, or anything like that it will just cause strain on you.

If it's not your daily but just a fun car then disregard that, but if it is your daily, it just something to think about.

^^^true. Don't get started on your first swap thinking it is going to be a breeze. The first one is usually the one were everything is just a pain. After you get through that one and all the little details and fine tuning, then it becomes easy...But the first one for me cost twice as much as all the rest.
