need help custom led tail light setup.

I am thinking about buying a spair set of tails and opening them up and makking my own led tails. i have a couple of questions. can I use white ring led if I am leaving my lenses red? do they make led ring that can plug directly into the bulb harness? i found t10 wedge rings. I was going to get a ring to plug into the 3157 tail light and also another ring to plug into the 168 rear sidemarker and put that one around the white circle reverse light. Can this be done? also i would paint the interior chrome housing black for a smoke look without the light blockage.

i know someone was creating custom red led taillights but i can't find the page anywhere and i used the searcg button too. I just don't like the star type led on ebay, i like ring led's and i want 2 like a m45, g35 sedan. thanks guys
