Need help with my J30. The other day I went to start my car and it started up fine but after a few minutes stalled and when I got it back running and drove it the engine wouldn't go above approx 2200 rpm and I had a check engine light (it previously had only a very intermittent flash of the check engine but no other special conditions). I checked the ECU for codes and got 12 (mass air flow sensor), 32 (EGR function), and 34 (knock sensor). Now the car will crank and start but will very soon just die off and hitting the throttle just makes the car stumble and choke even faster, but idle seems fairly smooth (until it dies) and never ran rough before this incident. Very confused about this, especially seeing as the mass air flow sensor is barely 2 months old (brand new from CarQuest) and that is the only malfunction I would think would make the engine die like that. If anyone could provide some insight, at least something to check for given these conditions.

I had a similar response with my 97 J30 a few months ago.....same quick die-off, and not go over 2200 rpms....turned out to be be bad gas...
did you fill up recently at a place not familiar?
how much gas in the tank now?

Try changing fuel filter?
Early MAF failure?
Maybe Carquest will give you another one to try?

Sure sounds like a fuel problem
