I have a 95 4cyl hardbody pickup that stalls and won't idle right. I want the clean the idle air control valve, but am wondering how to. I can't get good access to the screws holding it to the throttle body. Anybody who's cleaned theirs, do you take it off the throttle body or is there another way?

Thanks.

use carb cleaner... it is the best... fill it up, shake it alot, then pour it out and let it dry... p.s. it's not really that hard to take it off and clean it... just do it, it makes it about 1000 times easier...

Do you use a right angle screw driver?

Thanks; I'm gonna try to get it off this weekend. By the way, what is the cylindrical part above the IACV? I took it off and it has a little plunger & spring inside. My manual's no good on this stuff.

i'm not really sure... but while it's apart, you might want to clean it too... lol... if you are having a rough idle, you might wanna check out your tps too (throttle position sensor) it affects it... you also might wana check inta a Hayne's Manual...
