Well i just bought the Works XD-9's 17x9.5 +17 for all 4 corners...

Friend is suggesting 235/45 all around

I'm thinking 215/45 or 215/40 all around (need to have a slight stretch...)

Any input will be taken into consideration

Thank you in advance...

P.S.

Yokata180sx...what you think?

Google 9.5 inche to milimeterI would go with 245 at the least. 17x8 can take 225 easily, 235 on 9.5 would be stretched and increase the risk of damaged rims. You'll need to roll fenders.

BTW, go to https://www.tiresavings.com/ti...s.com and try these Riken Raptor ZRs

Then let me know how they perform compared to Nitto 450.

Thanks

Right now i have the FN's 17x9 in the back with 225/45's and its barely a stretch...

I need a bit more stretch to clear some issues with the coilovers.

Thanks for your input tho

Nice wheels and tires on both cars.

9.5 inches is 241mm and with the lip of rim it would be 250mm or so. With 215mm pot holes and curb rash could damage your wheel lips instead of being absorbed by the tires.I would say try putting on some used tires from a store for the looks and order that size.

Oh, just got mail from a Cougar guy.Quote »Hi Louis,

All I can say is so far I am very happy with them. They look real nice and are very sticky for cornering and quiet on top of it. The Kumho tires don’t last long as I have heard. The AVS sport tires are very good but you will pay for it. For the best bang for the buck I would jump at the Rikens.

Sweet good to know...the Work's will be my daily driving wheels. The Rikens is at a very nice price compared to the Hankook RS's. The FN's with Azenis is getting costly for autoX'ing and daily driving...

Thanks for the tip...i'll let you know how they are if i decide to get them

Don't forget to post pics in the tire and wheel fitment thread. I'll be posting mine as soon as I get the Raptors at the local store for $65 a piece. (225/50/16)

Are 245/40's going to have a slight stretch on a 9.5in wheel...? I have 225/45's on a 9in wheel and its barely a stretch on it....

Okay...215/45 or 215/40 is going to be a bit much of a stretch, so now i'm thinking 225/45's or 225/40's....

Need some help here, or i guess i'll just have to do it the hard way...just buy them and figure it out on my own....

Not enough stretch...I barely see any stretch with 225 on a 9in. From what I know so far is that on an 8in 225/45 is a perfect fit. And having the same size tire on a 9in is barely a noticeable stretch. I know that my new wheels are 0.5in wider, but 225's is going to be a difference much...? Is the reason why my initial thought was 215's all around.

So confused...

Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you consider a stretch?I have a pair of 17x9.5 with 245/40 tires. There is about an inch of sidewall to either side of the tread. That is a stretch. The bead protector barely covers the inside lip of the wheel. Dunlop suggests a 9.5 as the max for a 245/40, therefore that is what I suggest.

I can't post pics of what i would like on my friends computer. But can you post a pic of your setup. I've been searching around and can't find any good pics with 9.5in wheel....

As I said in the 1st post that my friend is suggesting 235/45's all around but from my experience with 225/45 on a 9in, won't seem like much of a stretch with 235/45 on a 9.5 wheel...

can you post a pic with your setup...want to see what it would lool like...

thank you

I like the look and also cuz i'm having so called problems (maybe) with the way the coilovers are....

The right side coilover's spring perch is right above the rim, where as the left side is about 1/2in sitting above the rim. With my new wheels being 9.5in wide, which brings the wheel a 1/2in closer to the coilover i might have rubbing issue with the tire on the right side. I'm still working on the suspension to see if something is bent or not.

So if i have a bit of stretch in the tire it won't be so close to the spring perch.

I'll probably go with 235/40 all around for tire size....

By any chance you have a pic of that tire size...? I believe I read somewhere that you had these wheels or a friend of yours have them on a S13....

I have been searching around for awhile now but can't get any good pics w/ a 9.5in wheel...the most i've seen so far is 235/40

Okay thanks for the help...Pics of the 215/40 will help alot. Getting alot of conflicting input that a 215 won't fit or can't be done on a 9.5in wheel. A tire place that i go to says he will put that size on, but doesn't recommend it.

Just want to make sure i don't damage my new babies by not having enough meat to protect them.

How much did you pay for the wheels?

If the tires won't clear why not just roll up the fenders than trying to get a stretch?Or you could just sell the wheels and get a little less in size.Either way your rubber is going to be the one to touch the ground. If you get into a curb-rash like I just did this afternoon on a tight U-turn, the blings wheels with stretch tires won't be so blings anymore, don't forget that.

My problem isn't clearing the fenders, its about clearing the SPRING PERCH on the right side. And selling the wheels is NOT an option for me. Regardless of the problems i have...I WILL MAKE THEM FIT.

I'm not worried about curb rash....what I'm worried about if 215/40 is going to be enough tire with potholes, overpasses or aggressive driving. That the tire won't un-bead or blow-out.
