well i just got a aftermarket shift knob off ebay and started pulling the stock one off..well the problem is that the thing just wouldnt turn, so i took off the shift boot and looked at it...the only thing i can think of is twisting it, so i started with my hands but that hurt and didnt go anywhere...so i went to plyers to get a better grip, and the shifter just started tearing apart...now i have no clue what to do if i can get it off...whats the best method to get this darn thing off...just twist it? well im going to go try that for a while but if nothing happens im going to take to a shop or something...HELP!

I'd watch out on a $50 short shifter.

It's glued on. Mine was too. Luckily we were doing a short shifter install, so the hacksaw was perfect :D.

You're just going to have to torque the hell out of it. Heating it to loosen the glue might help some...

yeah i know we've already been through all that in the thread.I'm only paid $10 b/c i'm doing a review on the shifter over the weekend. I'd tell you to use a vice grip on it, but i tried that and it just turned the whole shifter rod.

i used a 1 foot long pipe wrench and my and my brother both pulling and pushing on it. you just got to twist the living hell out of it, it will go
