Just recently the alternator in my car went out. Figuring it would be pretty easy my friend and I tried to take out the old alternator and replace it. After removing the bottom bolt we ran into problems. If anyone can tell me step by step how to change the alternator or has any advice on removing it your response would be greatly appreciated. Also, do i need to remove the pulley to the alternator before taking it out?

Remove PS and alternator belts first (obviously), then undo the little top and long bottom bolts and electrical connectors and pull it off. Easier to get at from the bottom once you remove part of the engine shield.

It's the bolt that holds in the bracket w/ bolt that tightens the belt. Little 10mm (maybe 12) IIRC.

I have the same problem with my '93 I got the bottom bolt out and I havent had any luck with the top bolt....do I tighten the bolt to loosen the belt? or do I just keep unscrewing the top bolt till it comes off?

Loosen the bolt that goes into the bracket, than loosen the long bolt on top to loosen the belt. Then after that, unplug the electrical connections and pull it out.
