need help car wont start

i have a 1989 240 and i just replaced the ignition control module because the car wasn't getting any spark. after my friend and I installed the part we tried to fire it up, it seemed like the car was attempting to fire and start, but wasn't. the belt was turning slowly (or very little) and then the car would fire loudly. we tried this for a few times and then came in here to post what we experienced. what do you guys think we should check next or what do you think is wrong. i think it may have something to do with the distributor but it seems new so it shouldn't have any problems. what are you guys' recommendations?

hmm, have you checked if your spark plugs are firing? it could also be something like an ignition coil problem.
