Need Help! Car Wont Start! Ignition/Security System?

Hey everyone, here is the issue, my gf started the car yesterday, then it died, and now will not start. The accessories will work but the key will not release from the ignition. Our friend stopped by to help her and found that it is not the battery. Unfortunately I am in NYC right now for a trade show and havent seen the car. Maybe the security system? Any help would be much appreciated!

Define won't start, as the alarm only interrrupts the +12v to the starter relay. No click click, no rotation of starter-engine when you turn ignition key.

That would be exactly it. There is no click click when trying to start. Would it be plausible to remove the fusible link to the security system to get past this?

As far as the the key goes, why do you think the car would hold the key?

I am going to be getting back from NYC around 1am tonight, so I wont be able to personally inspect the car til tomorrow after work.

If the key won't release, it sounds like a shifter interlock issue.

Is the transmission in Neutral or Park when trying to start it?

Is the transmission in park when trying to remove the key?

Well, when I got home from NYC, my mechanic buddy was able to get the key out but still no start

I will be taking a look at the car tonight after work. I'll keep you posted. Any help on the fusible link question would be helpful.

I went to the car on my lunch, it was in DRIVE!!!!! Put it in Park and it started right up.
