Need help. Cam issue

I rebuilt me head on my sohc. Im having trouble getting my chain and gear back on to the cam. Its off about 2 cm. I know its not off at the bottom. Ill have pics in a bit.

Sounds like you let the chain tensioner pop out of place.I had the same problem happen on some my old 240 Zs .
