Hey guys.

The NICO search is down for some reason

I am almost ready to remove my engine and transmission tomorrow, everything is set. I got my hoist, and all that crap, all ready to boogie.. Except, I cant remove the driveshaft... The FSM says something about removing a key or something like that, and I have no idea what theyre talking about....

If someone doesnt want to post, please call me anytime today or tomorrow morning, at your convenience. Ill be up late and up early... I **really** want to get this done.. All I have to do tomorrow is cut the exhaust off (all bolts are rusted beyond my effort), and the engine will be ready to drop out....

Number is 765-621-8336.... If you want, you can call me, and ill call you back so that I foot the long distance bill!!!

Wes - If all else fails, just place a creeper under the front of the driveshaft to "catch" it., or rig up some loose zipties or rope as a "sling".

As you lift the engine / trans, it will slide out of the trans and "fall" away harmlessly.

Remove the bolts at the collar on the differential. Then the carrier bracket. Push the shaft forward a bit (into the transmission) and the back end will separate from the differential flange. Then just pull the whole thing out toward the rear of the car. I'm not sure about the "key" you mentioned - except that the shaft is splined and fits into the transmission. I think there's one spline that is wider so that it only goes one way (keyed) but I'm not sure.
