Well ill throw in my 2 cents. First off, bounce the suspension. Just push the front or back down hard and let go. See how many times it bounces. If more than once, car has bad coils or shocks. Next, valve train rattle or knocks/pings. *240's are known for timing chain issues like wearing out after 60-80K miles and such, but this has a particular sound that most mechanics can identify. When you test drive, check clutch response for slip or weak hold. My advise is to not buy an automatic, because they are slow and will cost you more money down the road and people like dealers can always put a band-aid on any problems with it that would just get you through the warranty period (Ex. -CarMAX). All this + as long as the car starts strongly and passes your emissions well within the limits of your state sanctioned test, you should have a good buy. Remember to check the VIN# for any past history before you buy. I'll leave price up to you, but this is just a little common sence that anyone should follow before buying any car.
