Hey guys... i new here...

anyways... im looking to buy my first car...a 240sx...most likely a 89-90 hatch...

im most likely going to swap a sr20det or a built ka24de w/ turbo.... in maybe a couple of years when the money comes rollin in...

until then.. i need the ka24e to hold for a while...

i found this killer deal... but it seems to be too good to be true...a 89 240sx se...with 160 miles, 5 psd, with 2 sets of rims (stock, and 16' alum ones)... just for 1000...the car looks very clean in the pic...

now if this car is in relatively good mechanical cond... ill pick it up...

im not places to check for rust? (not the visible but rotting inside)experienced in car shopping so u guys have any tips on shopping for a clean 240sx? so i ccan have a good idea of its cond?

sounds/ symptoms to be weary of...?how to talk him down?

also, im very worried about rust since i live in canada....how do i go about checking the entire car for rust...

any tips are welcomed... thanks in advance

ps. does anyone have access to the site that checks VIN numbers?can anyone run a vin # by for me?:help

The first sign that you want to see if there are any GTR, H, or Silvia emblem on it. If it doesn't then its not a true 240 and the previous owner is not enthusiasts like us here. Everyone of us here have lots of sticker of some sorts such as APC. BTW If you don't want to get smart *** remarks like these, use the freaking search button. Have a nice day. Good Bye.

look for rust under the spoiler, under the rear carpeting, around the taillights, in the wheel wells, on the frame...ect.

Hey don't ream 'em there dip****... he's just trying to buy a first car....I remember my first car a '78 Ford Granada...Baby Blue...inline 6....that baby could outrace any grandma on her rascal....it was hotAnyway, welcome!!!I'm not sure about body rust kbjy because Texas doesn't see that much ice on the road, hence no salt...any way, check under and around the wheel wells for sighns of overspray(in case it was ever wrecked) Check underneath the car for any puddles(besides water coming off the a/c--if it has it) When you drive feel for any play in the wheel too...take it to a mechanicto have it checked out...is it a stick? if it is then then feel the clutch for any slippage. These are all very general, I have no idea what to look for in that age 240, what problems to look for...check the FAQ in the upper right hand corner-- that'll help
