Hey, i'm pretty new to Nico and i've just been looking around lately and you guys seem to really know what your talking about! so i've come to ask for some advice! I'm not gunna lie i'm not super intelligent when it comes to this! all though i'm really tryin to learn and i have learned lots! any help at all would be much apreciated!

I've just recently ordered a 1991 180SX and in about 3-4 months planning to swap an RB26 into it! i know it's going to cost me an arm and a leg but i'm cool with that. i'm looking to get a some what reliable 700hp from this! I want to make sure i do this right! so i was wondering if you guys could help me out and let me know what parts i should be buying to achieve my goal! oh and for the swap itself i'm getting a shop to do it and some of the other bigger parts!

thanks =)

What kind of car did you have before this?

Well Kamin is most likely going to shoot you in the face and lock this thread, so ill just tell you anyways.

There are a few threads at the top of this forum call "Stickies" Go read all of those first before you ever post in the RB section.

And you said you ordered a 91 180SX? How is that possible?

Anything above 500-600 whp in an s13 is freaking rediculously pointless no matter what engine you have in there. All you'll do is spin the wheels and it'll be pointless to drive becuase you wont be able to hook up.

It would cost upwards of 15k easy to make that much power with a 26.

Shops will just **** you over unless they do them alot, in other words i say If your going to swap an engine in your car .. DO IT YOURSELF OR DONT DO IT AT ALL. Biggest words of advice ever.

Any of my friends that done swaps get screwed over unless they come to ours which we let them work along side us so they learn something.

I'm getting one imported from japan.. so i guess you could say i'm ordering it?

I still have my 93' 240SX. i've had it for almost 3 years now.

and what i meant was.. im i going to have to replace my injectors.. new cams.. etc and what brands would be the best to get.. not where to buy them.

I've got a good shop so don't worry about that.

that was a bit uncalled for man.....

my advice is to search around here but moreso on skylinesaustralia as they have been building high hp rb26's for years, while its not in a skyline the information is just as aplicable.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that this guy is importing a JDM 180sx to drop in a RB26? Why not just import a skyline?

why can't he just swap the rb26 into his 240sx, since he says that he has a 240sx.

Well, honestly, if you want to get 700hp from an RB26, I would recommend a complete rebuild.

Start with forged pistons and work your way up from there. You have to put a lot of work into an engine to pull that much HP. Crank, Cam, Fuel Pump, Fuel Rail, Injectors, Turbo, Intake, Exhaust, etc.

If you bought a 180SX from overseas, I assume price is not an object.

I see there are some naysayers on the boards, but I'd do it if I had the money! LOL

The Skyline is really nice, but some people just love the looks of the 240/180.

R32>S13>*

I bet if you knew how to tune you could pull 700whp on stock rods; not that you will. An upgraded crank would also be unnecessary.

He speaks the truth. The rb26 bottom ends are pretty stout in stock form. But 700hp in a 180sx seems over the top. In a lightweight rwd configuration, it would likely be a very unstreetable car.

It also would make more sense to just buy an r32 since you live in Canada and it's legal. You save yourself the hassle of buying an rb26, swapping it in, and making it work. You also get that nice little awd feature.

The reason i'm not buying a skyline is because the model i would like is not legal here in canada untill 2010, the R33 just appeals to me alot more than an R32 does.. and plus i just really love the look of the 180/240 plus i'm a fan of RHD, i know some people think it's stupid i like it though.. gives it a kind of unique look to it.. atleast on this side of the world.

and yea 700 hp is alot.. but my motto is "go big or go home!!"

Thanks to those who helped answer my question! you've been really helpful! anymore help would be great!

I wouldn't want to pull that much power for the simple fact that my goals for a builder are very different, I'm more into time atttack. I want a balance of power and handeling. For me 400WHP is my target. Then there is the question of keeping street legal.

R32>S13>* Is a matter of personal prefrence.

Sure an R32 may perform better, but that dosen't mean everyone likes them better.

The S13 is my favorite NISSAN of all time, specifically the HB! I just love the design. I plan on building an S13 180SX some day. That's my dream car, make of that what you will, it's what I like.

BAH im sorry i let this go so long guys

i was at a drift competition in phoenix all weekend.

good news and bad news, bad news is im locking this thread.

good news is i won the competition

anyway TheTrickster this has nothing to do with you as a person, it has to do with the fact that there are cetain people who like to make fun of "new" people such as yourself. the best thing you can do to avoid these situations is search! everyone here was a newbie at some point. everyone. so the majority of questions you have can be answered by searching.

but ill point you in the right direction. for something like 700hp you are going to need to find an engine builder first. youre in a pretty big city in canada so just start calling performance shops and see who they reccomend for engine building! then just call and ask for an estimate.

i would guess in the $17,000-25,000 range for a 700whp RB26 S chassis.

and thats a ****load of money considering YOU can buy R32's up there now.
