I'm planning on building a HP KA24DE. I plan on building the entire low end and top end. Initially I would like to go NA but eventually be setup for KA-T. Which piston compression ratio would be ideal for both?

first post question I see, try searching next time, but I would go with like a 9:1.

Do more research before you post something.

Youv got conflicting goals. First off, NA KA sucks balls unless you have a LOT of cash to spend on it. To be honest its a waist of time unless you plan on dumping atleast 4-5g's into the motor. Rebuild your KA with low comp pistons, 9:1 is fine but you can go lower.

Again, i wouldnt even think about your NA hp.

..yea KA isnt a good engine to make "HIGH PERFORMANCE"...just go for a swap..SR,RB,or even a CA..then get into more performance with one of them

Yeah man don't do NA. It costs a lot more. Do stock compression but do forged pistons and rods and you can go boost crazy!!!! need bigger injectors and fuel pump but other then that you can go all out. Then with all the extra money you can build you head with bigger valves and intake manifold and everything. The lower compression you go the more boost you have to run to get it to go again so why not do less boost with stock compression. you don't have to go lower on comp man.

NA ka24de build made easy...

10.5:1 pistons....$400ishcams..270's are nice..$300.ishduel springs retainers $250.ishhead/rod/main studs..arp..$200ishlarger injectors..deoending if ya went junkyard diving or not $40. to $400.fuel pump..$200ishcometic head gasket ..$60-90 bucks

you dont need rods couse the stock ones are good to 300hp (most of the time)

what does performance mean?..it dosent mean high horsepower ...it means reliability under extreem conditions...race engines or performance engines are built to be hammer on and take a beating...the ka24de..can be made into just that...even thou its a low horsepower engine platform..it does have its advantages if you plan on racing as a privateer...

#1. loads of torque...torque gets you out of a corner faster ..if you drift..helps you maintain your drift by keeping the tires rotating.

#2. a newly found ka24e or de block is dirt cheep to buy as a replacement..god forbid something happens..your not out of alot of chedder lookin for the replacement block..

#3. cheeper parts due to low demand...since the sr20 and rb searies engines seem to be the way to go for most and verry popular..buying those ka replacment parts are cheeper as there is less a demand for em then for the popular brethrin nissan produces...

the meat of it all:you wont get big power out of a KA unless you bawoost!..thats just fact...but you will get cheep, easy to maintain , easly replaceable fun out of them..they are extreemly durable , and can take a pounding of clutch kiks and transmission locks without fail..if maintaind properly..with a few added upgrades..they become even more fun..its up to you and you power goals ..if your questioning the ka as a turbo build..then just save up for a popular swapp..but at least reaserch your power goals..driving abilitys and finacial requierments to compleate a build..and then decide on the best rote to go for what your looking for..good luck
