Today started my 08 g37s 5AT up in the morning after sitting all night. Has 1390 on the odo. Broke in as stated in manual. Bone stock.

Let it warm up and then drove and came to stop sign. Car markedly shuddering and shaking. RPMs were fine, engine reved fine and accelerate fine. Came to next stop light to a complete stop. Car starts shaking or shuddering like it was going to stall but the rpms were fine and the car accelerated fine.

Service engine soon light comes on flashing now.Pulled car immediately into parking lot and shut off. Looked for leaks and checked oil. All fine.

Restarted and car was fine. Took to dealer and then put on lift and look for codes but could not see any codes thrown. They told me to keep an eye on it but they could not see problem.

I have long weekend trip plan this weekend and will still go but any thoughts on what this is?Thanks.

Welcome to NICO, we're glad to have more 37 drivers here!

Your symptom is a really interesting one. The ECM has the potential to display so many codes based on just about every sensor, actuator, component. Your problem is interesting I have not seen anything like that personally. Since you have less than 2K on the car I would not suspect a different oil at this time, unless you have already changed it. Maybe the computer was doing it's self learn or some sort of self test. It is not uncommon.

As a small piece of mind. Remember you have roadside assistance throughout the country and if something were to happen you would always have help.

I agree with Steve...well I have to, he's a tech. lol

Hard to say what it is.

Fuel problem, MAF ....

Do you have any mods?

Bone stock. I would have thought that a fuel or MAF problem would have prevented it from driving but it accelerated and drove fine- it was just when I came to a complete stop that it shook like it wanted to die.

Sounds more like normal throttle motor response to closed throttle sensor input.Any of those components will set an immediate check engine light, if it happens more than once, even if it only happened once there would be a past code stored. Is this the first car you have had with drive-by-wire?

I don't believe so- my 07 Si had it.

The thing that got me was the service rep- good guy- stated that they could not see any codes- i.e. no history. I thought the car would store a record of any error. So maybe this was just bad gas and I should stop wondering?? Or maybe the computer fixed itself? Love the car.

Thanks again for answering.

I would not stress it too much. The car is very advanced and does all kinds of tests and things that you have no idea of. If the issue persists get it checked out, you have a good amount of warranty left so if anything goes wrong you are covered. Just enjoy it and use the new Ester Oil, and you will have a great car for a long time.
