Hey all,

only place i know i will get more responses so

here my story, the last time i had my car checked was about 3-4 months ago and the dealership said that my brakes were running thin and that my rotors needs to be resurface, and that i needed 2 new tires and gave me an estimate of about 400-600 dollars.

Now i don't want to spend that kind of money so i didn't do it and until now its been find, but now my brakes are making a grinding noise in the rear of the car and it makes me cringe everytime i hear it.

Been doing lots of research about brake pads and rotors since i want to save some money and get the most bang for my buck so been looking at advance auto zone, and thinking of getting the

Akebono Ultra Premium Ceramic Disc Brake Pad Kit Part No: ACT905(rear) & Part No: ACT815(front)
total: $87 after coupon usage

Wagner Brake Rotor Only Part No. BD126003(front) & Part No. YH145398(rear).
total: $67 after coupon usage

Just wanted to know if this is good combo for my sedan, just need new brakes, basic daily driver and mixture of highway and city. The whole cost for the brakes and rotor would be roughly under $155 which is great since im on a tight budget. Any help would be appreciated, new at all this brake stuff, and a friend of mines will be helping me with replacing these.

So i welcome all input and open for suggestion, don't know how much longer i can stand the grinding noise.

Well, if you want cheapo brakes then I suppose that is the way to go.

How many miles is your car at? My brakes started making a little noise at around 28-30,000 miles but it was more so the pads that needed replacing, not the rotors although I replaced them all with Stillen sport rotors and pads. That's $400-$500 though.

I just got mine replaced this Saturday. Just the front brake pads though the rotors needed no resurfacing, although the rear just have a lil bit of meat left on them. I have 32,000 miles on it. I went to pepboys, payed $160. Nissan quoted me $205 for same work.

Nissan OEM's pads and rotors will run you about $500. Stillen sport rotors + free pads is less for better quality, FYI.

Or you could go the ebay route. There's some ok sets for around $200-$300 there.

yeah, been looking around and saw a few ebay combos for around that price range, just looking for something that will just help me stop is all and cost is a big factor sadly.

so any input or reviews for those who gone the autozone, pepboys, napa and ebay route can shed some light on their purchases. Thanks.

A rule of thumb, DON'T SKIMP on brakes. That's the last item you'd ever want to be cheap with.

The ebays might be ok for a year or two before you get a cracked rotor due to poor quality.

hmms alrighty then, been reading aorund and researching on brakes and rotors and heard many say the same thing, dontbe cheap with brakes, maybe i can last a little longer on what i have left until i can afford better ones. Looking to either buy them at tirerack or on stillens website.

Ranga how are the stillen's one you have one? im interested in hearing your review on them, they got a great sale going on for them that comes with free pads, which you cant beat.

TO the op... I know everyone is saying dont skimp on the brakes.... but its better to have new brakes than grinding on metal......

I bought Cross/drilled brakes with pads for $214 on ebay and they work pretty good. Havent had any problems and I drive my car pretty hard.
