First off I'd like to give my thanks in advance for any and all assistance.
So here's my problem; I recently had to replace my ignition, inc the cylinder. Everything seemed fine until I went to have my car "smogged" (a Cali thing). Since my "check engine" light comes on periodically for an EGR problem I've been unable to resolve, I have to wait for a day that it doesn't come on, then rush out to get it smogged before it does. So that's what I did but this time they wouldn't smog it because they said that when they started the car, the "check engine" light didn't light up briefly to let them know it was working, or that the bulb hadn't been pulled etc. They were right. It no longer flashes on when I start the car. All the "idiot lights" on the right side of the dash do but not on the left. I know it's not the fuse or a bad bulb because it still comes on periodically for entire days. It's really frustrating because I need to register my car which I can't do without a smog certificate and I'm running out of time.
The only thing I can think of is that there must be a wire or two running from the ignition that turn it on briefly when the car is started. But I can't find anything that looks like the likely suspect. And the ignition I installed was bought from the junkyard with wiring harnesses intact so I don't see how I could've screwed it up then either so....
Any ideas or anything at all that might help me out would be much appreciated. Thanks again, -Glyph
