About 9 months ago I bought a nissan 350z (my dream car). I love the car to death, but theres a really big problem. A while back my knee hit the toggle switch for my fog lights which drained the **** out of the battery. This guy from work came out and jumped my car. Well i guess he reversed the cables and blew the 120 Amp fuse out. I called the nearest nissan dealership and got the part on order and rigged it up with thick copper going from the battery post to the lower post where the fuse box goes to. When the part came in I installed it no problems at all. Now its 4 months later and i went out to my car after hittting up the ATM and went to start my car. It sounded like it was going to start then all the sudden no power. Well now im back to the copper and waiting on the part again. Once i got back to work we checked my alarm, which the place i bought it from rigged it up pretty bad. The fuses were melted (not blown) but melted. i took those out. The wires from the alarm is connect directly from the battery to the alarm so i really dont think that it could have blown the 120amp fuse. Just wondering if anyone would have any ideas on what this could be.

yea ther is a short you should check all the wiring you can see for any signs of burning or charring, are the foglights factory? and also you shouldn't really put that copper wire in place of the fuse, you run the risk of frying your ECU since there is a short somewhere. And you def don't want to do that.

well im serisouly hoping its my alarm. I said in the last post the freakin alarm was serisouly dumped in by some numbnut who should be working at Mcdonalds. The only thing connected directly to the battery is that so that could be the problem. I pulled out the fuses and they were melted to hell. I think im just gonna rip out the whole alarm system and have it replaced. THe fog lights i dont think are the problem considering i never use them anymore because i always forget to turn the damn things off. I would like to run it in conjunction with my normal lights so that way i never forget to turn them off. I will try to get some pics tommorow of the way the alarm is rigged. Basically its 2 (1 black 1 red wires) running off the positive terminal ran down by the 2nd post by the 120 A fuse with about 7-8 fuse boxes and relays. Wondering if tommorow i should disconnect and tape up the alarm wires until i get a new alarm system in. If thats the only thing hooked up directly to the battery then hopefully thats what keeps blowing the fuse. What im also going to do is just take the old black box with the 120 amp fuse and solder a fuse holder into it and use that incase the next one blows. Im so nervous to drive my car with the copper in it because i dont wanna fry the computer then im serisouly screwed.....or maybe not i can just tell the insurance company lightning struck my car ^ ^ thanks for the post guys and keep throwing them up ill take any advice i can get. - 1 more day driving with the copper : )

Sounds to me like your car is completely RIGGED. Go through the entire electrical system and fix everything that isn't right. Your going to seriously kill that car. Be careful dude.

Giving someone a boost or getting a boost can really mess up your car's electronincs. If you must do either, make sure you follow manufacturer's instructions! Happened to me a couple of cars back....... never again.......

Ok I got the new 120 A Fuse and replaced it. I decided to take out the alarm and when i disconnected the wires that were connected to the battery saw that they there was a Positive and a ground attached to the positive terminal. Also they had subs in the car before i purchased the car because the 4 gauge wiring was still connected to the negative terminal causing the nut to loosen up even though I had it on tight. I disconnected the alarm and disconnected the extra 4 gauge wire and taped it up. I really hope this solves the problem. THanks for all the responses in my issue you all rock and I will continue to view this site like a hawk. It is very interesting. That was probably the problem, the powerline was grounding out on the car somewhere (where ever it runs to) and this was causing your fuse pop. Some people when they put in after market amplifiers choose to not fuse the line, probably fearing voltage drop which can be fixed by a capacitor. These ignorant people catch cars on fire! (my friend did it!).....
