What's up guys I know there's some computer nerds and or just some business people on this forum and and I know guys know your stuff. Sooooo here's my question. I need a new laptop I am currently a business student and need your help. I don't know what's good to get. I love macs but I would like to get pc because I know when I get into the business world that's what I will be using. So help me out. Any help is appreciated.

How much I'm willing to spend

Around $1000 don't wanna spend 2gs on a computer

What am I using it for?

School and business related activities also downloading basic ammounts of music nothing crazy

Do I use it for gaming ?

No just nico lol

Memory space ?

I have no idea what this is hahaha or what the #s represent

Size ?

Basic size 13 14 in screen

How long are you planning to use it ?

As long as possible I've had my last one since I won it like 5 years ago.

I think that's a pretty good description on what I need THANKS!!!!

here's a good deal at the moment:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00352 ... deals&ses=

you could get by spending less it sounds like. just get least 3gb of RAM. more the better.

Don't bother with a MAC - you're overpaying for the same specs as what you would get in a PC, and 99% of your business applications all run Windows.

Quite honesetly, you can get some awesome notebooks nowadays for like $700-800...just check out slickdeals.net and watch the laptop threads come through.

15in is probably the best size for power and mobility and viewing relief...smaller gets annoying on the eyes, larger is a b**** to carry around.

Anything that has a modern processor (like an Intel Core i3/5/7) will suit you well.

I prefer 4GB of RAM just for some headway.

HDD space...well, 500GB would be a good starter point for you, depending on your music storage, etc. The bigger the better.

My best advice is buy from a good brand. Lenovo makes excellent laptops, as does ASUS.

Yea see I love macs buuuut I don't want one that's why I'm asking what's a GREAT laptop for a dec price. And I actually thought the size I said was regular size. I didn't think 13in was small lol sorry but yea I'm not good with computers and what's good I know the basics. I know how to use them for what I do I don't know about them like I do cars hahahaha

Now main ? Wats a good brand bc I saw a lot about ibm but have also heard they have problems. I mean I actually have a lenovo laptop now but its 4 years old and has just been through hell lol. So yea give me ideas on brands please if you can b ut ill check out those links on slickdeals once I get home I'm on my bb now to much of a pain to look up stuff like that.

Not sure where you're planning on buying from, but I think Asus probably makes some of the best laptops on the market right now (purely my personal preference). Lou mentioned them in addition to Lenovo laptops. At that budget, you should definitely be able to find one of those two brands with pretty top-notch specs. I honestly can't see ever needing to spend much more than $1k on a laptop.

Give us an idea of where you're going to buy from, and we can try to browse the options available. IE, you looking at something like Best Buy or another local store? Or are you thinking of ordering from the internet?

Go to Best Buy, pick out any laptop that's around 600. They're pretty much all the same, it really doesn't matter unless you're a gaming douche and use Artic Silver as wack off lube. Seriously, they're all mediocre, so you're not missing much from one model to the other. I use a 700 buck ASUS piece of crap I bought at Best Buy for pretty much all of my work, and it does everything I need it to do.

Typed too slow. I would avoid HP. They tend to have more problems than the other brands. From best buy, I (again totally my personal opinion) would buy one of these two:

$999.99

$749.99

I also think extended warranties are pretty much huge ripoffs, but if you like that peace of mind, have at it.

HP is good. I like them. Just make sure to keep it ventilated really well... I hear that HP motherboards don't like heat after a while.

Your best bet would probably be something from Asus.

As mention above:

Avoid HP/Compaq. I highly suggest going with Asus, I owned an Asus G1 laptop before I fried my video card from rendering (3d artist). I had that one for about 5 years I think and it was the first batch when it came out. I had no complaints about it and I also have a friend who works for Intel and they work with Asus and he tells me Asus stuff are top notch.

I would wait till the day after Thanksgiving if you want to get a laptop for a really good deal.

ASUS U30Jc: http://www.google.com/products?q=asus+u30jc&hl=en&aq=f

Here's a review on them:http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/13/asus ... 1a-review/

Great battery life, great computing power, fairly decent cost.

lol i wish no this is an early xmas/bday gift from my parents. See I have been low on money for a while and actually still am in a lil bit of debt imo why i sold the hood and headlights. But i needed a new computer for school purposes and my parents understand that and as long as im woerking hard they dont mind helping me like this if its for a good reason. No i wont be getting much for xmas now but hell im 21 wtf do i need otehr than clothes anyway hahahhaa.

OK so THANKS GUYS i really appreciate the help ended up buying the one i posted i said i was. BUT EVEN BETTER i got the one applebonker posted for $999 for $850 plus i got the extended warranty for it and they set it all up for me with 6 months anti virus software. It has everthing i wanted plus more. Im really happy with the purchase and after all my rebates and gift certificates i had it cost about $1170 which is great. I didnt want them to set it up but this computer was so hot noone had them anymore they were sold out EVERYWHERE. BUT we called one store and they had one in stock BUT it already was installed with the best buy package that cost $100 so i said i didnt want it and they gave it to me for $30. AWSOME.....ended up giving me the backup disks for it set it up with everything and it also included 6 months of anti virus sooooo i was ok with that.

SOOOOOO applebonker THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mike :mike :mike :mike :mike
