To get to the bearings on the shaft you will need to disassemble the transmission usually the bearings that go bad first are the ones in the sandwich plate, they're not horribly difficult at transmissions to work on but you do need access to a fairly decent press to disassemble the shafts from the sandwich plate. If you've been in the transmissions before and have a good service manual you should be okay, if not this may not be the best transmission start out with.

probably the best way to check it is to start your car a kid at the operating temperature hold the clutch in listen for noises over the transmission, then when you let the clutch out with the car in neutral vessel get all the shafts in the transmission turning with no reload normally there is a little noise but if you get something that sounds like a rumble or rattling all so this'll make the transmission not exactly shipped as good as possible. Quite often the last a while after they start making noise but if they do fail it usually destroys a lot of the transmission
