My gauge cluster lights dont work. Everything else is fine, turn signal lights, radio, hazards, seat belt lights, all work. I've come to the conclusion that when the previous owner put the aftermaket Head Unit back in, he didnt put the Illumination lights and the Illumination ground wires somewhere. Obviously the ground needs to be put on metal. Here is my question:

Where does the Illumination Lights wire go (there is no where that i see it goes)? Its an orange wire if that helps.

If I'm not mistaken it is routed to the dimmer switch. All the dash lights go through the dimmer switch. I'v spent countless hours trying to fix my dash light problems when the problem was that I forgot to plug in the dimmer switch.

Never had dimming issue but make sure all loose wires are taped off. That was my problem; I left some untaped and they starting grounding out. Check your fuses in the kicker panel. Mine blew after every car ride.

Fuses are good. Nothing even relates to the lights. Its really bugging the hell out of me.

No grounding out. All wires are cut and have no way of grounding

Theres a little white box under the driver kick panel by where your feet are.

Its an easy removal that only requires a screwdriver. If you pop the box open check the circuit board in there for any burnt pathways. I hear its a common occurance ...when this path burns out, the cluster will stop illuminating. We fixed mine by saudering some wire between the two points to close the circuit and its been working fine ever since.

Behind the head unit there are two red wires with a yellow stripe. I think it's been awhile since we had this problem. ground one of these wires. Behind the head unit there is a screw that goes into metal, use that to ground it, and then say " illuminate " when you turn on your lights. When you do this the lights will work, but you will lose the dimmer switch function. The lights will stay at full brightness. Who uses the dimmer switch anyway.
