How did you jump? Was the other vehicle running? Did you have the cables connected properly? Did it turn over or same clicking sound? I would also look at the starter relays and have them tested. Do you have AAA? They can come to your home and diagnose the issue as part of the membership.bertini88 wrote:well that was the plan but i can't even start it now.... we tried to jump start it and nothing.
I have not had your problem with my 2004 M45. But as other's posted I changed my battery to a non-OEM Interstate, top of the line battery which has so far been excellent. What you describe almost sounds like a guy I knew with a Corvette that I tried to help jump start. Turned out his battery was "dead" shortened out and I could hear my alternator whining trying to charge that battery. The cables got hot and I said enough before you burn my charging system out. There is no way you can charge a dead shortened out battery. Throw it out! Buy the best battery you can afford. Go from there. If the new big battery goes, you have other issues. It turned out at the end of the day my buddy with the Corvette had a bad ignition switch too. When I took it out, it fell apart in my hands. Replaced the ignition switch and with the new battery the ran car like new. He spent thousands in repairs before we back yard monkeys figured out what the real problems were.bertini88 wrote:well i tried to jump it again late yesterday and it would not get any charge. we checked it with a voltage regulator and it showed 12.4 volts.... but it would not start at all and after a few attempts went completely dead. we took it to an oreilly's and the test came back "bad battery" i would assume it was the original battery not too sure cuz i just got the car in march. i got a new battery and so far so good, i'm hoping this resolves the issue with the ignition problems i have been having.
thanx everyone for your replies.
