As a first timer here I must say this is an awsome site you've all developed here, glad I found it tonight. I'm at a crossroads with my 1992 240SX LE Fastback and am looking for some help from someone who knows this car.
I live in the Chicago area (Roselle) and also work some in Rockford. Have had the car for 9 years, 2nd owner, originally bought it in Texas. I've taken decent care of it, do some repairs on my own, the major stuff has mostly been done by a good friend/mechanic when I had it in Texas, however I haven't had as much luck with mechanics since moving back to Chicago. Just about every time I've used a mechanic here, one thing gets fixed and something else gets broken, yeah that sorta BS too and I'm not joking. The car has 141K miles and it probably wouldn't hurt to do the 150K maintainence early, some of which I've already started.
There are some minor issues with the car body due to a half botched job by a body shop after a collision several years back, and a couple more recent fender benders while sleighing in the snow. The body needs some minor allignments and work to both fenders (also alignments to the pop ups and hood), the front bumper cover has a couple of small cracks, there's some rusting under the spoiler, front bumper and other small spots of rust and blemishes on the car. There's also a small to medium sized dent in the RP quarter pannel to the far side of the fuel door. I've already started on some of the minor stuff with a friend, but we will also likely need help or just have to wing it. As far as the body goes I'm being realistic and approaching it more as patch work than a restoration.
I would like to find someone in the area to do most of the mechinical work on the car and/or someone to help with the body work.If anyone has a good recommendation or interest themself let me know by email at
[email protected]and we'll talk. I will pay cash to the right person.Any other questions or suggestions are also welcomed, I'll post more info and photos here if necessary. It's decision making time with my 240. :help Thanks,Joe
