Post

Hello everybody, this is one of my first post in which I need some help or advice. I just installed a new KA24DE in my 92 Nissan 240sx Fastback. The problem I am currently having is cylinder #4 not responding. I am getting a compression reading of 170psi (dry tested) on cylinder #4. I pulled the plug and grounded it, got spark action going on. I pulled the injector harness off of cylinder #4 and there was no drop in engine RPM. I did check for codes and I got code 34 (Detonation).

Since I am getting spark, and have good compression, what would you FreshAlloy members think the problem can be? The KA24DE I picked up came from the beach side of california. Would the salty atmosphere cause the injector 4 to not work properly?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It's probably clogged, I'd stop by a auto parts store and pick up a injector node light. It tests to see if power is actually getting to the connector. If it does, I'd replace the injector. KA injectors are known to fail fairly often. Although usually only one would fail.

if you pulled the plug on that injector and didnt notice any difference in the performance of the engine then thats a good sign that that injector is bad and that the car is already doing without any of its help. have you tried pulling the injector and tapping a power source to it to see if it pulses. p.s. this isnt fresh alloy and i know you know that just tellinya before someone else does.

The most possible cause is a leaky injector o-ring in the fuel rail. To see if the injector is still 'good' you can put an ohm meter on the two contacts and should get a reading of ~11 ohms. If this is true for your injector all you need to do is pull it out and put new o-rings in. Do a search on FA about 'removing injectors' there's some good techniques out there.
