Hey, ok so my friend with a 300zx twin turbo has a problem. That night only an hour earlier the turbos were working fine. when he started up his car after and tried to floor it there was no spool or sign of the turbos working. The boost gauge showed that it would go from -14 to 0 but not pass 0. Now it has been about 3 days and still nothing from the turbos, i got him to floor it again and it sounds like it spools but for only about a sec or two and its around 5000 when his red line is 7000. What can be wrong and be done?

generally turbos won't spool without a load on the engine, and sitting there revving at yourself doesn't add a load to the engine. have you actually driven down the road and floored it and kept an eye on the boost gauge or just sat in place and revved the car?

no, we ran it down the street a couple of times, same thing it will go up to 0 and stop and not go pass.

could be a vacu-leak somewhere. check the diverter valve. also, it may be a faulty wastegate actuator and the spring has gotten soft enough to pop the wastegate open at low boost. or best case scenario, the arm to the wastegate fell off the mount
