ok so im about to pick up a s13 hatch with a ca18det in it...it currently has a gt28 turbo on it but the seals are bad which is causing it to smoke badly from burning oil. now i need to know wether or not i can replace the seals on the turbo or not because ive heard you cannot take apart the gt28s. would it be easier for me to buy a stock t25 turbo to replace it or does anyone know where i can get seals for the gt28.?

your t28 is screwed, AFAIK you cant rebuild the gt28r, because its ball bearing.

r u sure you have a GT28 turbo? Post pics and serial number and we can help you identify the turbo.

Correct ball bearing turbos can not be rebuilt.

The t25's are almost always cheaper than the t28's and gt28's. You can probably find a rebuilt t25 for the same cost/cheaper than a used gt28.

Also, ball bearing turbo's can be "rebuilt" in a sense. The entire center cartridge must be replaced, but that tends to cost just as much, if not more, than a new turbo.

I just sold a gt28r with a slightly dinged compressor wheel for $325 shipped, if that gives you an idea of going used rates. I have a rebuilt t3/t04e that I'm trying to offload... interested?
