well. i am retarded first off. my fender liners came off in the last snow storm and i have neglected to put them back on, but thats not the real problem. see i have a ram intake with an elbow that puts the filter right infront of my wheel, and well needless to say now it is completely exposed to the elements. it was raining and i drove like 20 miles to school ablsoloutly drenching the filter and just as i was getting off of the highway i noticed my car bogging down pretty harsh. i know this is definetly not good. and when i turned off my car it was running okay but how much damage did i reallly do in the long run. and when i looked at the filter with whatever false hope i had it looked like someone was ever so slowly pouring water out of a water bottle.

If you hyrdolocked you'd know it. Most likely result is bending rods due to the uncompressable water entering the combustion chamber. If the car is running okay now, you're probably ok and the water might just be residual drips. GET RID OF THAT H2O SCOOP OF AN INTAKE ... NOW. Or, don't come into contact with puddles. :dblthumb:

Doesn't your car need to take in about a liter of water to really drown?

I bet you are fine, as long as it doesn't "gulp" a large volume of water in a short time, you're good...bogging could be from a wet maf, but probably just due to water taking the place of air, if that makes any sense....

it makes perfect sense. also how much pull does the intake really have because the ram i have is pretty verticle and pretty bendy; would it be an easy thing for water to get in? i can see water getting in easily if the intake has suction for sure but if air is just forcing its way in then water is signifigantly heavier and would have a harder time getting in. right lol wishful thinking

^This.

I've hydrolocked a motor before (broke 3 rods, chunk of the engine block was gone, etc.)...and trust me, you would know if you did.
