Need help, 5spd swap, VSS won't fit!!!

I'm swapping an engine/transmission from a 95 into my 95 240sx, to include a 5spd swap. The Vehicle Speed Sensor from my auto transmission won't fit into the manual. Whats the deal? It just barely won't fit, it won't even start to go in, but it must be off by less than a millimeter. HELP!!! :help
