so i boought this 2001 QX4 off my moms friend, it was sitting for over 1 year, i changed the fuel filter cleaned out the Mass air filter with speical spray, still never fixed the problem, so the problem is when u give gas all the way it powers up and then when it hits between 3 and 4 RPM it dont change gears and it seems to be like slipping like a warn out clutch on a standard but this is automatic, what do u think is happening, theres brand new gas with conditioner, if u give gas slowly it speeds up no problems with out slipping and shifts nice, but only if u floor the gas peddle it does it between 3 and 4 RPM? any help or advice would be greatful in advance, thanks

for sure changing the transmission oil would not hurt if it's been sitting for that long.... I would start with that...

Shift solenoids A B with line pressure is holding up. DO A TRANSMISSION SERVICE, DROP THE PAN and clean replace the filter. When taking off the pan and draining keep that used oil separate and inspect it for filings. It is usual to have some debris.

You may have to change oil in transmission more than 1x because the solenoids can become blocked by debris and if this is the case the electric coil can overheat and burn because the solenoid can not seal up. You may be lucky and its just a matter of flushing out the solenoids and pressure lines.

thanks for the help guys, But when u pin the gas peddle all the way without letting go it will slip and stick at 4 RPM with out changing, but if u let go of the gas peddle and then push gas again right away it shifts? but if u driving normal and giving the gas peddle half way and it drives and shifts perfect no problems in the shifting or dont slip and no problems so only when u flooring it all the way. you think a transmission flush would do it? what transmission oil does this take? hows the best to check the dip stick Cold or hot? running or not running? in gear or just in park? as every car is different? the dip stick looks very clean and the oil looks clean, thank again for the help in advance

You might be over thinking this. I had a very similar if not identical issue. I thought it was a trans problem but ended up being a dirty MAF and clogged fuel filter. Those are the cheapest and least time consuming to tackle so I say start there.

Testing the quantity of transmission oil by the dipstick is written in your user manual. But if you cannot find it you can test with the oil hot/cold but read the dipstick at hot for hot and cold for cold. The temperature of 15 W oil will cause expansion of the oil, the car in idle, drive a few blocks to warm the oil come back park on a level area, pop the hood, leave car running, at idle, shift into every gear then neutral, now remove dip stick, wipe clean, insert dipstick, all the way, remove, then read where the red oil comes to on the hatched area hot. Should be on that hatched area.
For giggles go for a drive, come back and redo all again to see if difference in reading from a warm to now a hot at temperature transmission oil.

Do not overfill!
Do not under fill
Check colour of oil, should be bright pink, if brownish ---replenish and keep an eye on the colour.
One of the best, easiest and cheapest maintenance tip is to change transmission oil annually, or every other year. Cheap insurance for keeping the lubricity of the oil. Your solenoids, clutch material the whole of the inner workings will reward you with trouble free shifts

I had a similar problem... thought it was the transmission or a fuel pump issue, tried cleaning the MAF sensor without luck. Before doing anything major I decided to change the MAF sensor completely, and problem 100% solved.

If you're going to buy an MAF check out this thread Nissan MAF. It's the cheapest and correct replacement. The '01's definitely have MAF issues.
