Hello all, I am having a problem replacing the HU in my 96 I30. I am replacing the Bose HU and I am using the PAC ROEM-NIS2 kit. The problem I am having is that their are two plugs that I can't find what to do with. They are both round and black and have pins. The first one has 6pins in it and the second one has 2 pins petruding from it. I can't find any spots to plug these into on my new HU (some Insignia one... "The Ripper") I think one may be the antenna, but the antenna outlet(?) on the HU has a different look. SO any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!!!!!

Ok, some newe info. I bought an antenna adapter from wal-mart and hooked that up. A guy at best buy told me that the other cable isn't used, so I hooked up the antenna adapter and the cd player powered up. It turned on, could go on radio and cd player, but no sound came out of the speakers. I am using the pac roem-nis2 kit so I thought that the speakers would work with it, any ideas? Again, it is a 1996 Infiniti I30, with the Bose premium sound system. I'm not sure what to do. Please help!

well bose are bastards for doing this type of stuff, but the reason why it doesnt work is because the HU sends a signal to the stock bose amp, if you replace anything in the system, you will not get anything working right, your best bet is to either stick with the unit and buy JL's cleansweep or switch everything out and run new speaker wire. you see on the bose equipment, all the wires are connected to the internal bose amp which receives that "special little signal" that allows things to work. you can try to bypass that amp, but again with all that trouble, you're better off buying new everything, or JL's cleansweep

I don't understand though. I thought I've read in the forums that the way to use a new hu with the factory speakers was to use that pac adapter. Now you are saying that I can't do that because of the signals and amps and stufff. Does this mean that I have to rewire the speakers, or replace the speakers, or what. Thank you for clarifying that its bose that sucks, not my installing skills lol. Thanks for the help!

Basically, you need an adapter to downsize the signal from the HU to the BOSE amp, which then upsizes the signal to the speaker.

Crutchfield has this adapter which I used & it works perfectly.
