I'm trying to swap out the rear deck 6x9 speakers, but I haven't the slightest clue how to get the stock ones out. Anyone have pics/DIY/guide of the process?

Also, 6x9's should swap right in, right? I don't need any extra hardware do I?

Do you have the Rockford fosgate system? If you do, those arent 6x9"s in the rear.

I have the rockford system, but the job is still the same.

1) First open up both rear doors.

2) Reach your hand under the rear seat cushion, and fell around for a loop of plastic. Pull it HARD towards you to disconnect the seat from the floor.

3) Remove the seat cushion.

4) Pull the trim off around the seat starting from the bottom by the doors. You will need to pull some of the door seals away to release the trim.

5) Remove the 3 large seat belt bolts, i believe they are 14mm.

6) You do not need to remove the long Metal plates under the seat.

7) To remove the seat back, push up from the bottom, the top section is held in by 2 hooks, you push up from the bottom and they will release. Then just pull the seat back out of the car.

8) Pull the side trim off, you may need to wiggle it where it meets the triagular trim by the windows.

9) Next pull those triagular trim panals away from the rear window. They are clipped in just the same as the rest of the trim. PLEASE BE CAREFULL UP THERE, your airbags are right behind those panals, They arent connected to those panals, but it would be a bad idea to use something sharp by them.

10) Next the the edge of the rear deck panel towards you. That will pop out the 2 Christmas tree looking rivits.

11) Carefully pop out the upper seat belt covers, and push the seat belts through them. They do fit through, you may just need to wiggle them.

12) Last Step: Place a hand under the rear deck panel, and push up to pop the clips out, then just pull straight out.

To install, just reverse your removal.

Remember i have the rockford system so i have (2) 8 inch subs in the rear deck. However, the openings in the rear deck will fit 6x9's just fine. If they are a big upgrade, you may need to trim the rear deck to fit the speaker baskets. 90% of the audio upgrades for our rear deck will need a modification to the rear deck.

Here are some pics of mine with the newer P1 rockford fosgate subs.

Thanks for the thorough instructions; they definitely helped a lot. One thing I would add is that after step 5, you also need to remove the 3 screws that hold the seat in (also 14mm). Coming from a honda, this is such a pain in the a**... Why would they make it so difficult to replace a simple speaker? My honda I was able to just unscrew from underneath in the trunk and just pop right out and replace...

Anywho, it turns out after all that work, the speakers I purchased won't fit with the cover being so close to the speaker. (I purchased 3-way 6x9's and the tweeters are too tall to fit)

Looks like I have to invest in a different pair of speakers and buy some wiring clips.

One last question:

After looking on crutchfield for different speakers, it was brought to my attention that there are no speaker wiring harnesses available for our car. Is that true? If that's not the case, where would I be able to get hold of some that would fit the rear deck speakers (6x9)?

i knew i was forgetting something, sorry bout that.

Nobody makes speaker wiring kits. Just cut the connectors off and extend the wires if need be.

What 3 ways speakers did you have? Because ive installed several types of 6x9's and 8's in sentra's all without problems. I highly recommend the Polk Audio MOMO edition 6x9's. They have sounded the best thus far.

Also, i think the reason nissian made them so difficult to remove and install, is for 2 possible reasons.

1) Hard to steal

2) with the amount of soundeadening there is that way, anything will sound good with the least rattling.
