I am looking for some overbuilt blocking rings, the brass ring that joins the synchro sleeve with the speed gear teeth. I am building an Auto Cross transmission and would like to get some upgraded synchros.

I have heard horror stories about aftermarket synchros and need help in ordering. Should I just get OEM Nissan or are there any good aftermarkets?Any links would rock!!

Thanks Any help would be great!!!!!!!!!

stick with OEM... my buddy rebuilt his transmission with aftermarket synchros. well to make this a short story he had the transmission in and out and apart three times before he got oem synchros. you may want to look into os giken gears. they make short gears which will help in acceleration... they might make other extra strong parts (like synchros or block rings)... but id stay away from aftermarket parts from regular part stores. they are not designed to be used and abused like you will... not worth it.

i heard os giken gears take a second off your 60 foot time or something crazy, but they cost like 2500 bucks...

Well I am at WyoTech now, so I am doing the synchros in class, time is limited adn so are funds, so as far as gear sets thats definately not happening.

I am hoping to SR Swap in a few months, so for now I just need to get through about 6 or 8 more Auto Xs, new Nissan rings will do fine. Now all I need is clutch, so I can change that when I remove my old transmission and install the new one.

When I get out of school, thats when the seriousness begins.

Wyo Tech is tight, its a little too many students per class, but from what I hear its even worse at UTI and any other schools. The dress code gets a little lame especially the no facial hair, but for the most part its sweet. I am 50% of the way through the auto tech program, my class if kinda doing it backwards, I took ASM the managament class, Chassis and I am in Drive train right now.

This school and what you take from it is entirely up to. If you want to go crazy and drink M-Sunday cause Blairsville is boring, and fall asleep in lecture and waste your money, you can and you'll pass, but you'll be over looked too. If you come here serious and do well you can walk out of here with some geat oppurtunities.

I am doing damn well and I have been trying my best to make contacts at the career fairs. There are dealerships willing to pay for your tools, kick you like 6-10K as a bonus as long as you stay 5 years, if you leave before that you have to pay what ever % you didn't earn back. Some companies will pay for you to move, put you up in a hotel for a month so you can find housing. Benefits, tution assistance, etc etc.

But like I said there are some kids leaving here going to work for 11-12 bucks an hour, thats ridiculous, why'd they even come here?! I wanna make something of this, work for a major garage or race fabricator, maybe start something myself some day, and this is definately a good place to start.

If you are headed here I hope you are looking to whoop some ***, cause there are cool things happening here, and if you have $ and the grades to do a project car its BAD ***!

Finding a job in Blarisville and the area, is a humbling experience, I am from NY and I haven't made 6 dollars an hr since my first job when I was 16 in 1997! Its tought to find a good job here, but if you just need basic expenses and spending money you're set.Oh BTW when it comes time to pic housing, GO with Russel there are some real slum lords on the list that they will send you and if you can visist the place DO IT, cause I hate the crap hole I am living in.

I am taking Applied Service Management, Auto Tech, Chassi Fab and if the high performance engines looks solid, I may stay for that.

The Housing Guy is Gabe Lucero at WyoTech, but when you get your housing package, there will be a list of landlords in the area Russel has the best places.

The dorms are ok if you can stand living around that many people. They have a weight room and kitchens you can use, but at 350 I am not sure I would choose that, you can get a room in a house for 400 a whole lot closer to the school.

Good thing about the dorms though, they are near Indiana Univ of Pitt, the only source of females anywhere near WyoTech.

All in all this is a good choice so far, and I am about half way done. I guesss the facilty for High Perf and the New Diesel program is a gorgeous brnad spankin new sight, with an AWD Dyno.

Email me if you have any other Q's?
