well, my ebay bidding worked out very well this weekend and scored a set of very nice 99Q rims , thanks again rob!!!! next up is tires. from what i've read on past posts the 245/50/16's is the tire of choice. i don't put a ton of miles on the Q, thinking maybe 5-7k in the course of a year, maybe less. can't really spend a ton on tires, and they won't see snow.

while digging around on tires.com and tirerack.com came across a few that i've seen mentioned before.

if i were to bite the bullet and spend $$$ would probably go with the firestone sz50's(still possible but doubtful). i'll list the ones in the running and maybe i could get some comments or opinions. 1. yokohama avs es100 2. sumitoma htr-z 3. kumho ecsta supra 712 4. yokahama avs db st

thanks all for your help as always jeff

I've been very pleased with my Sumitomos.

Just make sure you check the load ratings for that particular size, for my last purchase (225/50/r15) the Yoko AVS DB S2 met the requirements but the ES100's were not up to the load.

I think Jberger meant 225/60-VR15.

Hey Jeff,

Check the Continental ContiExtremeContact in this size.I just installed them, will update on impressions. They seem to be pretty strong and have an excellent dry and wet grip.

Jeff - Skip the ES-100's.

Check the Michelin's in that size on Tires.com.

I like the specs and price on the Kumho, Nitto, and Sumitomo's. Have driven a car with the Conti's and they're nice too.

All brand new tires [even many junky tires] feel good compared to used tires with 10-15,000 miles.Try saving and comparing all tires with 15,000 miles on them then you learn the truth about which is the better buy!
